lessons from a 90 year old stranger
The other day we were at Costco grabbing some milk and other items, when I was stopped by an old man standing by his cart. He just started talking to me saying over and over "You just have to tell them that you believe they can. If they want to try something new, tell them you believe they can. and then he went on to tell me how old he was and different things he'd done in his life. He was there with his daughter I think because when she came back to the cart she mouthed "thank you." Like, thanks for letting him talk to you. We kept shopping, but what he said to me has stuck with me because I believe what he said to be true. I need to believe in my kids. They need to know I believe in them. They need to know I believe they can do anything they put their mind to, or conquer any challenge they are faced with. "Let them know you believe that they can."
