Its been like 3 months since my last post. Time has flown by with a newborn. I attempted a post all about Lucas' birth story and when i was all finished I accidentally erased it. It took me so long I haven't blogged since!
Being a mother to two boys is a lot of work, but I am surprised by how much i love it. I love being a mom, and I love my boys so much. Lucas is such a great baby. He seems a lot easier then Max was. Im not sure if it is because I know more what I am doing this time or he is just more easy going. I think it is a little bit of both. He has brought such a special spirit into our home. Once again, I wonder what I ever did without him in our life! He has just started to smile and giggle and it is the cutest thing.
I am going to attempt another birth story and pray it doesn't get erased this time.
June 28th 2012
I was 40weeks and 5 days and my doctor recommended that I get induced. I was hesitant because I had a c-section with Max and was attempting a v-back and didn't want to have any complications. I was feeling so big, and so ready, and decided to trust my doctor and get induced, He said that everything should go well since I was past my due date. He was right.
7:30 am we headed into the hospital and got all ready to go. He broke my water around 8:00am and told me to expect to have the baby around 5:00. They gave me pitocin and antibiotics because I was strep B positive like I was with Max. It gave me confort knowing that I was getting the antibiotics early enough so that the baby wouldn't get the infection like Max did.
After I was all hooked up Alex and I just watched shows on Netflix for awhile. The contractions started coming harder and harder and I decided to get the epidural around 12:30, I can't remember it hurting at all really because my contractions were pretty hard by then. The epidural kicked in fast and everything was pretty smooth sailing from there. Around 3:45 they checked me again and I was dilated to a ten and ready to start pushing. I could feel the sensation to push but didn't have any pain. i pushed for about 45 min to an hour and baby Lucas was here around 4:45! It was so incredible to hold him right when he was born, and the most amazing experience. It was so different then with Max. I just got to sit and cuddle and stare at Lucas, where Max was an emergency c-section and I didn't get to hold him for a few days.
I feel really blessed that everything went so smooth this time around. It was so amazing. I was almost in disbelief that it all went so well and I had this new precious little guy in my arms. We stayed in the hospital for two nights, Lucas had to spend one of them under the billi lights but then he was good to go!
I was REALLY sore for a few weeks, ouch ouch ouch, just thinking about it makes me cringe. But I felt the same way about the C-section. I had a 2nd degree tear with Lucas, so it could have been a lot worse but still was not pleasant.
The first night home with Lucas we were up most the night, but then after that first long night he would go about 4 hour stretches the following nights. Now he only wakes up once, if that, in the night which is amazing. I hope it stays this way.
Max and Lucas are even in the same room now which i thought would be impossible. For awhile they were both in our room because Max was having bad dreams and Lucas, we just still had him in our room. Its nice to have our room back. Max still wakes up sometimes because he is scared but usually goes back to sleep really easy. Lucas always goes back to sleep after I feed him.
I have been playing soccer twice a week which has been amazing. i missed soccer so much, It gives me something to look forward to each week. Its fun to see old friends and just have fun, and play. Alex has been working hard at L-3 and also at the spa for my brother a lot. In his spare time he is perfecting his Tower project. It now has a website hyrumdamcam.com! haha it really is awesome, and will be really convenient for any boaters or fisherman who want to check out dam conditions. That dam cam is dam cool ;) but I have to admit I will be happy when he is done so I can have my husband back.
The adjustment to two kids is much better then I was expecting. Like i said I dont know what we ever did without these two sweet boys in our lives. We love them so much! Life is real good.

I am so happy for you that it went so well. I am sure you are such a cute mama. I miss seeing you.
Now that I've had a baby I actually enjoy reading birth stories. I used to just skip them ha ha. I'm so glad everything went so perfectly. Holding them right after you have them is the most amazing feeling and I'm so happy you got to experience that this time. I had a 2nd degree tare too and holy moly does it ever hurt. I had to call my doctor and get real pain meds on day 4 because I couldn't even walk or get out of bed. I still don't feel 100% back to normal. How long did it take you? Glad to hear you are doing well. I hope I get to see you at some point when I'm home. Also wish I could play soccer with you. Haven't touch a ball for almost a year. Can't even imagine how horrible my touch has become.
Loved reading this! So happy it's going so smooth. It is the best holding the newborns right after you have them, and not being able to do it the first time, makes it even better. Soccer sounds so fun too! Miss you. Thanks so much for your sweet package.
